Highway users must still tap Touch'n Go cards even on toll-free days


PETALING JAYA: PLUS Malaysia Bhd is reminding highway users that they must still tap their Touch'n Go cards at the toll lane readers as usual although no toll charges will be imposed on Jan 20 and 21.

The special two-day toll waiver begins from 12.01am, Jan 20 and ends on 11.59pm, Jan 21.

In a statement, the company said that the tapping of  Touch'n Go cards on the toll lane readers were required for travel record purposes.

Welcoming the two-day toll waiver in conjunction with Chinese New Year which was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Jan 18, PLUS chief operating officer Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said:

"PLUS anticipates that most highway users will seize the opportunity to enjoy the toll waiver and plan their Balik Kampung travels based on toll waiver dates.

"Therefore, we advise the public to plan their journey carefully and to anticipate that their journey back to their hometowns may take longer especially during the two special days announced by the Prime Minister.

He said the company had also placed several measures to ensure smooth and safe travelling during the festive season where heavy traffic is expected.

PLUS also recommends use of Waze or Google Maps during journeys to get the latest traffic updates.
