Hispano Suiza to auction 12 Carmen electric hypercars as NFTs in world first

BARCELONA: Hispano Suiza says it would create 12 units of the electric hypercar Carmen, which will be auctioned as Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) through the Trillion Collection platform on June 24.

The move is believed to be a first by any automaker.

NFTs are unique and indivisible digital tokens, which serve as virtual property and authenticity for a digital good.

The NFT market has grown exponentially in recent times, especially in the art and collecting sector, attracting the attention of Hispano Suiza, whose models are considered high performance pieces of art on wheels.

The Spanish car maker has partnered with Trillion Distributed Ledger Technologies and its NFT arm Trillion Collection for the development of an unprecedented use case in the industry.

Together with Trillion Collection, Hispano Suiza will create an NFT Collection by Hispano Suiza, a collection of 12 customisable designs of its Carmen model.

The Carmen delivers more than 1,000hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.6 seconds. The 12 aesthetic settings will be preset, but the final design and specs can be adapted to the tastes of their new owners.

Hispano Suiza CEO Sergio Martinez Campos said “Hispano Suiza has always been a brand ahead of its time, and always at the forefront of the latest technology."

The Hispano Suiza NFTs would be dropped through the platform https://trillioncollection.com/ and a dedicated event on the Clubhouse App, an audio chat social network on June 24.

Hispano Suiza said the virtual event would be moderated by established investors, technology entrepreneurs and sustainability leaders.
