“Honda Malaysia is appreciative of the Government’s support for the automotive sector and effort to introduce this encouraging initiative. With this, we are pleased to pass the savings from the tax exemption on to our valued customers," said Honda Malaysia managing director and CEO Toichi Ishiyama.
The new pricing follows the Malaysian government's announcement of a 100% sales tax exemption for Completely Knocked Down (CKD - locally assembled) models and 50% sales tax exemption on Completely Built Unit (CBU - fully imported) models in the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana).
With the relevant adjustments made, the new prices take effect from today (June 15) until Dec 31.
This results in the Japanese car brand's CKD models that include the Jazz, new BR-V, City, HR-V, new Civic, CR-V and new Accord experiencing a price reduction of between
RM2,788.46 and RM8,545.63 while the Odyssey (CBU) has been lowered by RM9,502.47 for Peninsular Malaysia.
In addition to the new pricing, the company said that new car buyers can also enjoy the on-going special treats with their new Honda cars under the “Kita Bersama Deals” campaign that's applicable to vehicles registered from June 1 to 30.
Ishiyama also stated that the company is confident that the Penjana economic recovery plan will help improve the industry as well as the nation's economy as a whole from the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We hope the reduced car prices will enable customers to purchase the Honda model of their choice and enjoy the interstate travel which is now allowable as well as support the Government’s efforts to promote local tourism as we continue to adhere to safety practices in the new normal," he added.
