MANILA: The Honda Civic Type R will make its Philippine debut at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) next week.

It will share the limelight along with an HR-V MUGEN variant that will be launched here. A new City MIAS Edition, integrated with exclusive features only available for sale at the motor show, will also be launched. Only eight units will be available in the market.

Honda Cars Philippines said the Civic Type R would lead a line-up that promotes the brand's sporty image.

Among other Honda cars that will be displayed are concepts of the Civic and BR-V, kitted up with Modulo accessories.

Following its Geneva premiere, the 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO "heart" of the multi-award-winning previous generation Type R has been optimised and refined and now produces 320 PS with peak torque of 400Nm. Throttle response and driveability have improved as a result of re-mapped engine control settings.

The six-speed manual transmission is further improved by a rev match control system to maximise driving pleasure.

The Manila show will run from March 30 to April 2.

In a related development, Honda said the Civic 1.8 E CVT has been upgraded. It is now equipped with power folding side mirrors that gives the driver the ability to control and fold the side mirrors in different driving situations and road conditions. It also now comes with a speed sensing auto door lock that conveniently bolts all doors when the driving speed reaches 15kph. The Civic 1.8 E CVT is available in two grades, and prices start from  Php 1,103,000 (RM97,056).
