BERLIN: Honda's bestselling car, first launched 50 years ago and having been sold more than 30 million times worldwide since, is now getting ready to go more digital than ever with an 11th-generation model set to go on sale in the second half of 2022.

Launching in autumn in Europe with prices starting at €31,900 (RM148,000), the Civic is getting its first fully digitalised cockpit and a package of assistance systems to match.

Civic drivers in hot climes will no longer feel chilly AC air being blown at them, and Honda says there's a new, draught-free automatic climate control system with vents extending across the entire width of the dashboard.

More importantly, you'll also find more than the old pure combustion engine under the bonnet, and this Civic is only being offered as a conventional hybrid, at least to start.

The only available body variant is a four-door hatchback which measures 4.55 metres and has gained almost 4cm in wheelbase, mainly to the benefit of the rear passengers.

The luggage compartment holds 410 litres and can be tripled up to 1,220 litres by folding down the rear seat.

Combining a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 105 kW/143 hp and two electric motors, the hybrid delivers up to 135 kW/184 hp to the front axle and can sprint from 0 to 100kph in 7.8 seconds at best.

The top speed is limited to 180kph. Standard consumption according to the manufacturer: 4.7 litres (CO2 emissions: 108 g/km).
