Hyundai Inster shortlisted for 2025 World Car Awards, results out on April 16

SEOUL/TORONTO: Hyundai Motor Company’s Inster has been named a "Top 3" finalist in the 2025 World Car Awards, marking the fourth consecutive year Hyundai has been recognized in this global competition.

The other two finalists are Kia EV3 and BMW X3.

Hyundai Motor has been shortlisted for three awards in this year’s World Car Awards, including: World Car of the Year (overall victory); World Urban Car; and World Electric Vehicle.

The brand has been on a winning streak in the last three years at the World Car Awards.

In 2024, the Ioniq 5 N was crowned World Performance Car, while both Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 5 took a hattrick of titles in 2023 and 2022 respectively, taking victories in the following categories: World Car of the Year; World Electric Vehicle; and World Car Design of the Year.

A jury of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries selected the finalists through a sealed ballot. The winners would be announced at the 2025 New York International Auto Show on April 16.

The Inster is a sub-compact EV noted for its distinctive design, reasonable driving range and advanced technology.

It offers rapid charging, achieving a 10-to-80-percent charge in around 30 minutes, offering a claimed range of up to 370km from the 49kWh long-range mode.

The 2025 World Car Awards finalist list includes a single entry each from China (BYD Seagull) and Japan (Toyota Land Cruiser).
