LONDON: British holographic specialist Envisics has today announced receiving over US$50 million (RM226mil) in a further funding round led by Hyundai Mobis.

Other investors in Envisics are InMotion Ventures, the investment arm of Jaguar Land Rover, SAIC Motors and Stellantis.

Envisics’ holographic technology enables Augmented Reality Head-Up Displays (AR HUD), an advanced display technology that is fast becoming a must-have feature for auto makers and consumers alike.

"Envisics stands apart as the only company that has created and delivered dynamic holographic technology as a viable product at scale,” said Envisics’ CEO and founder Dr Jamieson Christmas.

Hyundai Mobis is expected to integrate the Envisics technology with other technologies to improve the in-car experience that will then be offered to global automakers.

General Motors will be the first company to deploy the second-generation Envisics AR-HUD technology, debuting in the 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ.

In 2010, Jaguar Land Rover was the first automaker to see the potential of Envisics Holographic technology for HUD applications and was the first OEM customer of this technology.

Based in Milton Keynes, UK, Envisics has built an R&D centre where it is pioneering the deployment of holographic technologies for automotive and mobility applications.
