SEOUL: Hyundai Motor Group has announced the formation of the Hyundai Motor Group Global Design Division, which will focus on designing all-electric vehicles and future mobility solutions.

The division will be headed by Luc Donckerwolke, who will serve as chief design officer (CDO) and chief creative officer (CCO).

Donckerwolke aims to create an environment that fosters creativity and leads to transformations in the global mobility industry.

The new Global Design Division will include the Hyundai & Genesis Global Design Technical Unit, led by SangYup Lee, and the Kia Global Design Technical Unit, led by Karim Habib. These leaders will be responsible for directing the design directions of their respective brands while ensuring differentiation.

In addition to the organisational changes, a new Genesis Design Centre will be established under the Hyundai & Genesis Global Design Technical Unit. This centre will allow each mobility brand within the Group - Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis - to develop its own design ethos and build a strong design identity.

Hyundai is currently following a design philosophy of "Sensuous Sportiness", Kia is focused on "Opposites United", and Genesis is pursuing "Athletic Elegance".

Simon Loasby, vice president, has been appointed as the head of the Hyundai Design Centre, while Ilhun Yoon, vice president, will lead the newly established Genesis Design Centre.
