KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has officially launched the new Hyundai Stargazer in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM99,800 and extending to RM121,800 for the range-topping Stargazer X.
The new MPV is available in three variants — Style, Prime and X — with Hyundai positioning the Stargazer as its “WEhicle”, a family vehicle designed around how people live and travel together.
The Style and Prime are seven-seaters, while the Stargazer X uses a six-seat 2+2+2 configuration with second-row captain chairs.
All variants are powered by a 1.5-litre Smartstream G1.5 MPI four-cylinder petrol engine producing 115PS and 144Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) and drives the front wheels.
Priced at RM99,800, the Stargazer Style is the entry point to the range, offering a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout, LED headlamps with H-signature daytime running lights, an 8-inch multimedia player, 4.2-inch TFT LCD meter cluster and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The RM109,800 Prime adds more technology and safety equipment, including dual 10.25-inch displays, Hyundai SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems and six airbags.
At RM121,800, the X gets a more distinctive SUV-inspired appearance, with sporty front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler, black Hyundai emblems and black gloss alloy wheels.
It also switches to a 2+2+2 captain-chair layout, leatherette seats and Shift-By-Wire transmission control.
Hyundai says the Stargazer’s cabin has been designed around how families actually use an MPV, rather than focusing purely on passenger capacity.
Practical features include a cargo floor box with a lid, seat-back tables and multiple USB ports.
The X variant also gets a floating centre console with a detachable tray.
Depending on variant, equipment includes ceiling-mounted rear air-conditioning vents, wireless charging and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold.
The Stargazer uses a 2,780mm wheelbase, while the Style and Prime measure 4,575mm long. The X is slightly longer at 4,610mm.
Hyundai SmartSense is available on the Prime and X, with the company describing the system as including ADAS 2.0 features.
These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Following Assist.
The Prime and X also receive six airbags, while the Style is equipped with two airbags.
The driver assistance technology is intended to provide additional support in situations ranging from urban traffic to longer highway journeys.
HMY is also offering an Early Bird Value Package priced at RM4,600 during the launch period.
The package includes the RM88 booking fee and eight times or four years of free after-sales service.
Existing Hyundai owners can also receive an additional RM1,000 rebate through the All-Star Reward programme when purchasing a new Stargazer.
The Stargazer comes with Hyundai's myHyundaiCare warranty covering eight years or 160,000km.
Another feature introduced with the model is the Stargazer Resale Value Protection (RVP) Programme, which guarantees a predetermined resale value when customers upgrade to a new Hyundai, subject to terms and conditions.
Customers can upgrade at a guaranteed value of 70% in the third year with up to 60,000km, 60% in the fourth year with up to 80,000km, or 50% in the fifth year with up to 100,000km.
HMY will hold a nationwide Stargazer experience weekend on Sept 26–27, where the public can visit dealerships to test drive the new MPV.
