Ian Callum creates own multi-terrain electric vehicle called Skye
By CARSIFU | 25 November 2023LONDON: Callum, the design and engineering firm founded by Ian Callum — renowned for his work with Jaguar — has unveiled its first proprietary vehicle, the Callum Skye.
Positioned as a high-performance multi-terrain electric vehicle, the Skye is designed to cater to customers seeking exceptional on- and off-road adventures.
Breaking new ground for both Callum and the automotive industry, Skye stands out in the compact multi-terrain vehicle segment with its fully enclosed, comfortable cabin featuring a 2+2 layout.
With a length of four metres, the Skye boasts a distinctive exterior aesthetic driven by its capabilities, focusing on minimal mass and maximum capability.
Callum design head Ian Callum said the design is centered around a vehicle that is exceptionally usable and enjoyable to drive. The exterior features a striking accent loop intersected by a strong horizontal structure, creating a commanding yet elegant sculpted form.
Under the hood, the all-electric, all-wheel-drive Skye is engineered to deliver an exhilarating on-road experience while maintaining exceptional off-road capabilities.
It features a rugged space frame chassis with trail-capable suspension, providing appropriate ground clearance and comfort across diverse terrains.
The 42kWh lithium-ion battery is expected to offer a range of 273km, and customers can opt for an advanced, ultra-fast charging battery capable of a full charge in under 10 minutes.
With a target dry weight of 1,150kg and balanced 50/50 weight distribution, the Skye aims to accelerate from 0-100kph in under four seconds.
The Callum Skye is undergoing rigorous testing in the UK and Europe, with definitive specifications and variants for on- or off-road use set to be revealed in spring 2024.
Enthusiasts can register their interest in the Callum Skye on the official website.
