Indonesian grandpa buys Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with a sackful of cash

PETALING JAYA: An elderly man caused a stir when he walked into a Mitsubishi dealership in Indonesia and proceeded to buy a Pajero Sport SUV in cash.

His unusual action was recorded in a video that was recently posted up on TikTok, Instagram and other social media channels. The man's deed also made it to some local news publications.

The video showed the bearded grandpa, dressed in nondescript attire, taking out bundles of cash from a gunny sack and handing it over the counter at the undisclosed dealership.

After paying for the Pajero Sport in full, he was seen driving his new "mobil" away.

The Pajero Sport he bought is priced at around 600 million rupiah (RM178,000) in Indonesia.

While some social media users praised the man for buying the Pajero Sport in cash and avoid getting into debt, others urged for the video to be taken down as it could mark the man as a target by robbers or scammers.
