Isuzu Hicom Malaysia contributes 11 trucks for technical education

PEKAN: Isuzu Hicom Malaysia Sdn Bhd (IHM) today handed over 11 Isuzu trucks to seven vocational and technical institutions in Pahang and Terengganu.

The initiative is part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to support the development of technical skills among students.

The vehicles, comprising refurbished Isuzu ELF and Forward models, will be repurposed as practical training tools.

They will support hands-on learning in automotive engineering, component study, vehicle maintenance, and driving training in line with the government’s push for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

IHM CEO Koshi Yamaguchi said during the handover ceremony at IHM in Pekan, Pahang, that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to contributing to the wider community beyond its core business.

“At IHM, we integrate responsible business practices into our operations as part of our broader commitment to society. Through this initiative, we aim to contribute to the development of skilled talent while supporting the growth of the automotive and transport industries in Malaysia."

The beneficiary institutions are Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS) and Kolej Teknologi Termaju Jabatan Tenaga Manusia (ADTEC) in Kuantan; Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin in Dungun; and GIATMARA, Kolej Komuniti Pekan, Institut Kemahiran MARA Tan Sri Yahya Ahmad, and DRB-Hicom University of Automotive Malaysia (DHU) in Pekan.

DHU vice chancellor Dr Sharoul Jambari thanked IHM for the initiative.

“This contribution will significantly enhance students’ hands-on learning experience at all recipient institutions of higher education. And for us at DHU, the trucks further reinforce our strong emphasis on TVET, as well as our collective commitment to delivering courses and programmes which cater to evolving industry needs,” he said.

The CSR programme also supports IHM’s sustainability efforts by extending the lifecycle of its vehicles, reducing waste, and contributing to long-term socio-economic development through education and skills building.
