The Merdeka Convoy 66 was the largest-ever simultaneous parade of D-Max in the country, ensuring that it would be a fitting celebration of the country’s 66th year of independence.

Isuzu Malaysia chief operating officer Kenkichi Sogo who flagged off the Merdeka 66 Convoy at the Isuzu Jinjang outlet in Kuala Lumpur, said the event allowed dealers to engage with owners yet be able to celebrate the special bond that Malaysians enjoy.

“While our aim was to create a meaningful Merdeka celebration this year among our dealers and D-Max owners, we also wanted to celebrate this sense of unity that is so unique and apparent in Malaysia with a unified activity that transcends borders,” said Sogo.

Participants of the Merdeka Convoy 66 enjoyed a day out with fellow D-Max owners around the country with various programmes organised for them by their respective dealerships.

Their vehicles were also decked out with commemorative decals and flags while each participant received an exclusive event t-shirt.

Part of the fringe activities organised by the dealers included a visit to a durian farm, a short off-roading course, an afternoon at the beach, a rainforest resort and a shopping mall.

Feedback from owners was positive with many voicing their interest in participating further in group activities among D-Max owners to foster closer friendships and to network with owners.
