JAC Hunter PHEV in Australia: 1.6L/100km and 1,005km range (NEDC)

SYDNEY: The upcoming JAC Hunter PHEV (plug-in hybrid) 4x4 dual-cab ute in Australia is rated at 1.6 litres per 100km combined fuel consumption (NEDC) and a 1,005km combined cruising range (NEDC).

JAC Motors Australia has revealed the range and fuel efficiency figures, ahead of the ute’s Australian launch in mid-2026.

JAC Motors Australia managing director Ahmed Mahmoud said the Hunter PHEV is arriving at exactly the right moment for the Australian market.

"We believe it is going to get the attention of Australians looking to move into a plug-in hybrid without compromising on the capability, practicality and toughness they need from a ute.”

JAC recently invited NRL (National Rugby League) star Josh Addo-Carr to customise a Hunter to suit his lifestyle.

The one-off build includes a custom paint finish by Smith Concepts in Brookvale, supported by PPG, along with Lenso tyres, a lift kit, hard lid, lighting, an e-bike setup and other JAC genuine accessories.

It will be showcased at the Melbourne Motor Show, April 10 - 12, where more than 100,000 motoring enthusiasts are expected to attend.

Meanwhile, under “Project: No Shortcuts”, the Hunter PHEV will have undergone more than 50,000km of local testing in real-world Australian conditions, with local engineering expertise from Michael Barber of Multimatic helping shape the vehicle’s dynamics, and independent testing conducted by Segula Technologies.
