KUALA LUMPUR: Over 800 units of the Jaecoo J7 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) have been registered in just four months, since its launch in late February.
At a recent event to celebrate the handover of Jaecoo J7 PHEV units to 100 buyers, owner Manivannan Manickam said, “It’s comfortable for the whole family, and we can go long distances without refuelling. I am glad I chose this car, it fits my needs perfectly.”
Singaporean Ian Chan, was thrilled to put the PHEV to the test, travelling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur to meet like-minded PHEV mobility owners.
“I’ve had my J7 PHEV for a few months now, and I’m enjoying the experience so far. I drove it up to Malaysia just to attend this gathering and meet other J7 PHEV owners, as we don’t yet have such community events in Singapore yet. Looking forward to the next one!” he said.
Fellow J7 PHEV owner Andy Wong said, "The features are great, the car looks good, and it drives very well too. I was able to learn more about my car at this event, especially about the hybrid technology and how to maximise range.”
The J7 PHEV can travel up to 1,300km (NEDC range) on a single tank and a single charge.
It has a class-leading pure electric range of 106km (NEDC range) and the lowest fuel consumption in its class, at 4.77 (NEDC range) litres per 100km, in a power-depleted state.
Its features an Intelligent Drive Modes system, and offers 255kW and 525Nm on tap.
Priced at RM158,800, the J7 PHEV comes with Level 2.5 ADAS (advanced driver-assistance system), eight airbags as well as enhanced features like a Driver Monitoring System, Lane Departure Prevention, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The J7 PHEV's 18.3kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery is said to be weather resistant, and engineered to perform under extreme temperatures.
