KUALA LUMPUR: The recent Jaecoo J7 PHEV SHS Treasure Hunt 2025 allowed owners to share their experiences with the Jaecoo J7 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) and its efficiency in real-world use.
Organised by Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia, the treasure hunt was also nationwide customer engagement initiative to bring customers closer to the brand.
The treasure hunt was held across three major regions in Malaysia, each offering its own unique routes and planned stops.
The Northern leg (Dec 3 to 4) took participants through Penang, Kedah, and Perak, while the Central region event (Dec 5 to 6) guided teams through Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Seremban.
The adventure concluded in the Southern region (Dec 7 to 8), where participants explored Johor and Melaka.
A total of 77 Jaecoo J7 SUVs (sport utility vehicles), with 160 participants, took part across the three regional competitions.
In each region, participant groups — consisting of five vehicles each — followed pre-determined routes to popular landmarks, attractions, and authorised Omoda Jaecoo dealer points.
At every stop, teams completed tasks designed to test teamwork, navigation skills, and creativity.
Challenges ranged from general knowledge to creating photo and video content.
Points were earned for each completed activity, with final rankings and prizes presented at the end of each regional event.
Dr Karan Nair from Kuala Lumpur shared, “I travel from Sendayan to the Klang Valley and places in between, four to five days a week in my J7 PHEV. I’m very pleased that I only need to fill up fuel once a week.”
Echoing these claims, owner Sasha How Kuan Yee said, “I recently travelled from Melaka to Penang for a three-day/two-night stay. My J7 PHEV showed a remaining range of 100km after returning to Melaka. Recharging is also easy, simply plugging into a three-point outlet for additional driving range.”

This customer event builds on earlier milestones for the Jaecoo J7 PHEV.
In October 2024, Malaysian media joined representatives from six other countries — Italy, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom — in an ultra-long-range driving marathon from Guangzhou to Wuhu, China.
The multinational convoy successfully travelled more than 1,300km on a single tank of fuel and a fully charged battery without stopping to recharge.
The 13-hour drive covered diverse real-world driving conditions, including heavy morning traffic, national highways, and high-speed intercity expressways.
During the challenge, the J7 PHEV achieved an all-electric driving range of 125.2km — surpassing the official 106km pure-electric rating.
This performance is credited to Jaecoo’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) Technology, which intelligently manages energy distribution to maintain optimal efficiency even in a power-depleted state.
Following this, in January 2025, five Jaecoo J7 PHEVs (2WD) also embarked on a long-distance journey from Singapore through Malaysia to Hatyai, Thailand.
The cross-border drive saw all five vehicles surpass the claimed 1,200km WLTP range, with the longest distance recorded at an impressive 1,427.5km.
Locally assembled in Shah Alam, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV is priced at RM158,800 and features a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined system output of 347PS and 525Nm.
The engine is paired with a continuously variable Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), and a dedicated hybrid battery pack.
From now until Dec 31, 2025, customers can enjoy up to RM14,000 in overall savings on the Jaecoo J7 PHEV.
