TOKYO: At Japan Mobility Show 2025, Mitsubishi showcased its new 2026 Delica D:5 minivan prototype with a newly designed front grille and bumper, updated interior, and S-AWC (super-all wheel control) technology,
The first-generation Delica was launched in 1968, and to date, the series has achieved cumulative sales of more than 1,380,000 units.
The 2026 Delica D:5 prototype was developed under the concept of an “enhanced all-around MPV (multi-purpose vehicle,” and it now features S-AWC technology.
Based on 4WD (four wheel drive), S-AWC constantly and optimally controls the driving force and braking force of all four wheels, providing responsive handling and outstanding stability.
An overhaul of the drive modes enables optimal driving performance across diverse road surfaces, improving both steering stability and road handling.
These include ECO, a 2WD mode that prioritizes fuel economy; NORMAL, which is suited to a wide range of everyday driving situations; GRAVEL, which demonstrates off-road performance on gravel roads and mud; and SNOW, which enhances handling stability on slippery surfaces such as snow.

The vehicle is also equipped with Hill Descent Control, which maintains a constant vehicle speed even on steep downhill slopes, enabling optimal driving according to road conditions.
New wheel arch moldings further emphasise its powerful road handling, combined with the new 18-inch aluminum wheels.
The front grille and bumper designs have been revamped to create a more active and powerful look.
As for the rear, decorative plating has been eliminated and the DELICA emblem is now boldly placed on the black garnish.
The rear combination lamp extensions and the lower part of the gate are blacked out to create a more masculine rear design.
Inside, metal-accentuated panels evoke the feel of outdoor gear, and the updated interface features digital display gauges.
The centre panel is dark gray, which makes scratches less noticeable, and the seats are made of suede-like material with water-repellent properties.
The interior is made of a combination of leather and synthetic leather, and the stitching is the same khaki colour as the rest of the interior.
Two USB Type-C ports have been added to the bottom of the centre console.
The current model's analog speedometer and tachometer have been replaced with an eight-inch full-colour LCD combination meter in the new model.

Meanwhile, the all-new Delica Mini was developed under the concept of an “advanced, active, reliable partner”.
The Delica Mini is a super height-wagon kei-car that bears the name of the Delica minivan, which combines a spacious interior with powerful driving performance.
Every aspect of the vehicle has been enhanced – from its outdoorsy and endearing exterior design, to a refined and innovative interior, and improved handling and user-friendliness thanks to five newly added drive modes.
