"It is a premium SUV that stands out in a crowded landscape by delivering what matters most to discerning Malaysian consumers,” said Jetour Auto vice president Ke Chuandeng at the launch event at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
The Dashing's pricing puts it in a close fight with the Proton X70, which is offered in four variants and priced from RM99,000 to RM127,000.
Size-wise, it is bigger than the X70 in terms of length, width and wheelbase but is slightly lower than its Proton rival.
Other models the Dashing is seeking to wrest market share from include the Honda CR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross.
Jetour is a Chery sub-brand formed in 2018 that makes mainly SUVs.
In a statement, Jetour Malaysia said it presently has 15 sales and service outlets in the country, and 30 new 4S (sales, service, spare parts, body and paint) and 3S centres are due to open in 2025.
The launch event also saw Berjaya Group founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Ke officiating an agreement exchange between Berjaya Assembly Sdn Bhd and Jetour Malaysia, to collaborate on completely knocked down (CKD) projects.
