KUALA LUMPUR: Jetour Malaysia's T2 i-DM, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its popular T2 SUV model, is finally on sale.
The T2 i-DM was unveiled at the Malaysia Sarong Music Run 2026 at KLCC, following the opening of bookings earlier this year.
The new variant is priced at RM162,800, making it RM6,000 more than the existing petrol-powered T2.
Jetour Malaysia is offering the T2 i-DM with a seven-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty and a 10-year/1,000,000km engine warranty, whichever comes first.
The ownership package also includes five times free service, covering parts and labour.
Unlike the existing petrol-powered T2 which uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the T2 i-DM gets a 1.5-litre TGDI dedicated hybrid engine working with two electric motors and a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.
The system produces a combined 265kW and 610Nm of torque, giving the T2 i-DM a significant increase in combined output over the conventional petrol-powered T2.
The plug-in hybrid system is supported by an 18.4kWh LFP battery, delivering more than 100 km of electric-only driving range.
Combined driving range, with a full tank of petrol and fully-charged battery, is rated at up to 1,200km, allowing the T2 i-DM to use electric power for shorter journeys while retaining the petrol engine for longer-distance travel.
The T2 i-DM supports 57kW DC charging, with a claimed 30% to 80% charging time around 27 minutes.
It also supports 6.6kW AC charging, taking around three hours to charge from 30% to 100%.
The vehicle also comes with 3.3kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability to power external devices and appliances.
One of the major differences between the T2 i-DM and the existing petrol-powered T2 is the drivetrain.
The petrol T2 uses Jetour’s XWD intelligent all-wheel-drive system while the T2 i-DM uses the hybrid system to drive the front wheels.
The T2 i-DM retains a claimed 700mm water-wading depth, giving it some of the practical capability associated with the T2 name despite the change in drivetrain.
Besides the EV and HEV power modes, the vehicle also features the standard Normal, Economy, Sport driving modes and adds Snow mode to tackle slippery surfaces.
To distinguish the petrol-powered T2 from the T2 i-DM, the latter gets 20-inch alloy wheels, while the exterior is offered in a new Highway Grey Matte finish.
Other visual identifiers include i-DM and PHEV badging.
Inside, the T2 i-DM retains the T2’s large 15.6-inch multimedia display, alongside a digital instrument display.
Equipment specific to the hybrid variant includes an illuminated crystal gear selector, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and reverse-linked door mirror function.
The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the cabin also features a 50W wireless charger and 12-speaker Sony audio system.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a panoramic view monitoring system.
The ADAS package includes features such as blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, rear collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist and integrated cruise assist.
The T2 i-DM also comes with hill hold control, hill descent control, intelligent high beam and tyre pressure monitoring.
For the first 2,000 registered customers, Jetour Malaysia is offering an early-bird package worth up to RM3,000.
The package includes a free V2L adapter cable, with buyers able to choose between a 7kW AC wallbox charger with home installation or RM2,000 in ChargeSini charging credit, subject to terms and conditions.
Financing rates start from 1.68%, while Jetour Malaysia's special insurance package includes EV charger wallbox coverage of up to RM5,000, third-party personal liability coverage of up to RM50,000 and special perils coverage, subject to terms and conditions.
