The White Series pick-up truck was launched recently by Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd (ATM) to better address the needs of corporates and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Unlike the Premium Series pick-up truck which is priced starting from RM105,888, the White Series does not come with door visors, kicking plates, window tint film, tailgate assist and a digital video recorder (DVR).
The White Series has fabric seats, compared with the leatherette seats on the Premium Series.
Also, the White Series is sold with a three-years or 100,000km (whichever is first) warranty, compared with the Premium Series which has a five-years or 150,000km (whichever is first) warranty.
Catering to business usage, the White Series is available in the Arctic White colour.
Meanwhile, ATM has also introduced a new colour, namely Metal Grey, for the Premium Series.
Other colours for the Premium Series are Metallic Silver, Stylish Black and Arctic White.
“After our successful launch of the JMC Vigus Pro in 2021, we received a lot of feedback from the business community. They demand a reliable and robust 4x4 workhorse that is competitively priced, and at the same time, is versatile to help the businesses deliver good performance – the JMC Vigus Pro White Series is the answer,” said Tan Keng Meng, CEO of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd and executive director of ATM.
Tan added that the White Series offers a more accessibly priced 4x4 workhorse especially for businesses looking to increase their fleet size.
"It makes things easier in terms of financing. They don't need the Premium Series. The White Series offers the same power, utility, efficiency and fuel economy," he said.
Noting that it takes time for a new automotive brand to gain market traction, Tan said presently the company is looking at 500 registrations annually for the JMC Vigus Pro.
"In the next 18 months, we are planning to bring in two to three new JMC models. Eventually, we hope to push JMC sales to 8% to 10% of the pick-up segment. That would be about 5,000 units annually," he said.
The JMC Vigus Pro pick-up truck has a powerful PUMA 2.0L Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) diesel engine, the first-in-class ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and the BorgWarner four-wheel-drive system.
Power output is 141ps at 3,600rpm and torque is 340Nm at 1,500 to 2,600rpm.
The ZF 8-speed automatic transmission offers seamless gear shifts and optimal torque delivery, enhancing both performance and fuel efficiency.
As for the BorgWarner four-wheel drive system, it offers a low-range transfer box for off-road and SUV applications.
This system allows drivers to switch between two- and four-wheel drive modes, providing improved traction and off-road capabilities.
The low-range transfer box includes additional gears for a lower gear ratio, enhancing torque and enabling the vehicle to conquer challenging terrains.
BorgWarner’s system incorporates electronic or mechanical controls to engage or disengage four-wheel drive, ensuring reliable performance and flexibility in various driving conditions.
The JMC Vigus Pro pick-up truck comes with all-round disc brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, halogen (projector) headlamps with automatic on/off, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), front and rear fog lamps, power adjustable and automatic-folding side mirrors, automatic wipers with rain-sensing, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with USB and Bluetooth and four audio speakers, front and rear parking sensors, paddle shifters, cruise control, a reverse camera, Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC).
Also, customers can choose accessories such as roller shutters, providing convenience and security for their cargo.
Alternatively, the canopy is available, offering versatility and protection.
All accessories come with a one year warranty.
The JMC Vigus Pro is locally assembled at the Tan Chong Motor plant in Serendah, Selangor.
It is available for viewing and test drives at 30 ATM dealerships nationwide, complemented by a network of 20 Tan Chong Ekpress Auto Servis aftersales service workshops.
The company plans to expand its dealerships and service workshops to reach out to more customers, moving forward.
To celebrate the launch of the JMC Vigus Pro White Series, ATM is kicking off the Test Drive and Win Contest.
