PETALING JAYA: Due to the ongoing movement control order to stem Covid-19, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has granted a nine-month extension to Learners Drivers Licence (LDL) beginning Feb 11 until Nov 11 this year.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the nine months extension will apply for drivers whose LDL expires between Jan 13 and Nov 11 this year.

"If the expiry date of the LDL is more than two years before or after the MCO (before Jan 13 or after Nov 11), drivers will not be qualified for the extension.

"The owner needs to make a new LDL application. He needs to repeat the KPP 01, KPP 02, and KPP 03 training, as well as all examinations in Part I, II, and III."

Dr Wee said LDL holders only need to make a copy of their licence together with a RM10 fee.

"LDL drivers are eligible for the extension until Nov 11 by only making a copy of the LDL with a RM10 fee.

"The date printed on the LDL is the date of the transaction that commences and ends on Nov 11 (more than the period of three or six months)," he said.

For the LDL B2 owners, they are allowed to renew their licence with a payment of RM2 for three months, if the LDL still has a validity of two years
