JPJ recalls almost 4,000 units of Perodua Alza, Aruz and Honda motorcycles
By THE STAR | 03 November 2024PUTRAJAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a recall notice for 3,722 vehicles, comprising select models of the Perodua Alza, Aruz, and the Honda CB350RS, due to critical safety and compliance concerns.
In a statement, JPJ announced that the recall applies to 2024 models, specifically involving 2,518 units of Alza, 1,139 units of Aruz, and 65 units of the CB350RS motorcycle.
According to JPJ, inspections revealed that certain models did not meet regulatory standards, and two specific issues were identified.
“For the Alza models—1500 X (CVT), 1500 H (CVT), and 1500 AV (CVT) — the headlight alignment is reportedly not within the specified height regulations.
“The Aruz models, the 1500 X and 1500 AV, are affected by the same issue.
“For CB350RS motorcycles, a fault in the speed sensor could cause critical errors in the anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control and speedometer readings,” the JPJ said in a statement.
JPJ also stated that vehicle owners affected by this recall will be contacted directly by Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd and Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd for inspection arrangements.
The cost of replacing the affected components will be borne by the respective manufacturers.
Owners of affected vehicles may also visit authorised service centres nationwide on a walk-in basis.
JPJ urges all affected vehicle owners to arrange for their vehicles to undergo inspection promptly to maintain road safety standards.
Further details can be obtained from Perodua and Boon Siew Honda sales and service centres across the country.
