JPJ to introduce quality road tax stickers in 2023, says Loke

PETALING JAYA: Poor quality road tax stickers will be a thing of the past soon, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

He said the road tax system would be overhauled and the changes would be introduced this year.

Many motorists have complained that the current road tax stickers are flimsy and prone to fading fast. A CarSifu writer found out that the printed information on his sticker had disappeared in less than four months of use.

Others have also complained that the stickers do not come clean from the windshield when removed, leaving glue residues behind.

Among the main agenda of the JPJ in 2023 is to digitalise core services to the people such as vehicle and driver licensing in addition to strengthening the enforcement of traffic laws, Loke said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

"Any implementation of new initiatives will be carefully planned and I will make an announcement when full preparations have been made.

"Our main agenda is to make things easier for the people and I don't want to see people standing in long queues at the JPJ offices which inconvenience them."

Loke made the statement after meeting the top management of the Road Transport Department on the same day.
