LOS ANGELES: Karma Automotive and Manhattan Motorcars, a retailer of luxury and performance vehicles, have partnered to showcase Karma’s latest vehicle at the New York International Auto Show, from April 15-24.

The 2022 Karma GS-6, a luxury electric vehicle will be featured in Manhattan Motorcars’ booth at the Jacob Javits Center.

Alongside the Karma GS-6, Manhattan Motorcars will also showcase other luxury brands, such as Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Porsche, and GTO Engineering.

Karma introduced the sleek and sexy-looking GS-6 Series in February 2021. It's a refined version of the Fisker Karma for those who know the company's roller-coaster history.

Under Chinese ownership, the Karma became the Revero, with the Karma monicker upgraded as the name for the new automotive company.

The GS-6 retains the same exotic design of the award-winning Revero GT, but will be offered at a more attainable price point for drivers who want the environmental benefits of an electric vehicle, without sacrificing design or performance.

To be specific, the GS-6 is a plug-in series hybrid electric vehicle or an extended range electric vehicle.

Under the long bonnet hides a BMW-sourced 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo engine - the same one used in the BMW i8. The engine does not drive the rear wheels but powers a generator that charges a lithium ion battery. The 28kWh battery in turns feeds a pair of rear-mounted electric motors. This hybrid layout is meant to remove range anxiety as the car can keep on going with the battery power being replenished by the engine.

Alternatively, the battery can also be charged up using an external charger. A level 2 AC charger or 240-volt outlet will charge it fully in four hours. The battery supports level 3 DC charging and can top up to 80% charge from near empty in 34 minutes.

Electric range is 96km but with the engine and motors working in unison, the total range is 530km.

The two motors churn out 536hp and 746Nm of torque.

Karma also released the GSe-6 in 2021. It's the company's first all-electric vehicle, featuring an 85-kWh battery pack that provides up to 370km of range.
