COLOGNE: Japanese motorcycle maker Kawasaki unveiled four sporty new rides for 2017 at the Intermot bike show here with a limited-edition version of the Ninja H2 leading the charge.

The new Ninja 650 made its European debut at the German event, joining the enhanced Ninja H2 and Ninja H2R, plus a new Carbon edition Ninja H2, limited to 120 units worldwide. The refreshed Ninja 650 gets a new trellis style and a reworked twin-cylinder water-cooled engine.

Like with previous versions of this bike, Kawasaki promises both sporting performances and weekday in-town versatility from the new Ninja 650. Note that the Ninja H2, H2R and H2 Carbon all feature technology that records and displays the angle of lean when riding.

Kawasaki also presented a new 2017 version of the Z1000SX at the Cologne show. The brand's new motorcycle offers smoother acceleration, more rider protection thanks to wider cowling and a higher screen, and increased comfort with improved rider and passenger seating. Revised suspension, LED headlamps and an adjustable gear shift light enhance its sporting prowess.

A special model focused on motorcycle racing - the Ninja ZX-10RR - completes the Kawasaki line-up for Intermot 2016.

Intermot runs Oct 5-9.
