Kia and Samsung team up for smart PBV solutions

SEOUL/TARRAGONA: Kia is teaming up with Samsung Electronics to integrate next-generation Internet of Things solutions into its Platform Beyond Vehicles (PBVs).
The deal was formalised at Kia’s 2025 EV Day event on Feb 27 in Tarragona, Spain, where representatives from both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
The agreement sees Kia adopt Samsung’s SmartThings Pro IoT platform in its PBVs, offering "plug and play" connectivity for a range of connected devices and appliances.
Under the new partnership, Kia’s PBVs will enable wireless control of external business operations. This is achieved by linking the vehicle’s in-vehicle infotainment system with various IoT-enabled devices, allowing for the activation of business routines based on destination data entered by the user. The technology simplifies the installation and management of connected appliances, bypassing complex setup procedures.
Both Kia and Samsung plan to develop customised IoT solutions tailored to the specific needs of business customers across diverse industries.
Initial pilot services will be launched for small business owners, with a view to expanding these services to a broader B2B market globally.
The collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for customer engagement and redefine the interaction between vehicles and digital ecosystems.
