Kia K4 Sportswagon: Petrol and mild-hybrid powertrains

PARIS: The Kia K4 Sportswagon will be offered in Europe with a range of petrol and electrified powertrains.

Positioned between the C- and D-segments, the K4 Sportswagon is aimed at customers who require more space and flexibility combined with a dynamic and distinctive design.

The powertrain offering starts with a 1.0 T-GDI petrol engine (115PS) with a six-speed manual transmission.

This engine is also available with mild-hybrid technology.

Customers who opt for the mild-hybrid engine can pair it with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission instead.

The 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (150/180PS).

Later in 2026, the powertrain line-up will be expanded to include a full hybrid option.

“The wagon body style allows the K4 to compete beyond the traditional C-segment,” said Kia Europe vice president of product and marketing Pablo Martínez Masip.

Its range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) will include Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Smart Cruise Control 2 (SCC2), Highway Driving Assist 2.0 (HDA 2.0), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Surround View Monitor (SVM) and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA2).

The luggage compartment offers up to 604 litres of cargo capacity, 166 litres more than the hatchback, which positions the model alongside upper-segment competitors in the wagon market.

A wheelbase of 2,720mm creates generous rear legroom.

A wagon-exclusive feature is the power tailgate opening. This allows hands-free convenience, making loading and unloading easier.

Inside, the K4 Sportswagon's panoramic display integrates a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, supported by Kia’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC).

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across all trims, with a wireless phone charger available in higher trims.

The Harman Kardon premium audio system offers an elevated in-car sound experience.

The Digital Key 2.0 with ultra-wideband technology allows compatible smartphones to function as virtual keys.

At the same time, Kia Connect services offer a range of digital tools, such as over-the-air (OTA) updates, music streaming, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

With its AI-powered voice assistant, drivers can simply say “Hey Kia” to control various features.

For entertainment and personalisation, Kia Connect also enables access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube.

The exterior design interprets Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ philosophy as a longer, more functional silhouette.

At 4,695mm long, the model is tailored to the wagon body style. Clean horizontal lines emphasise width and stability.

Distinctive design elements, such as hidden rear door handles, a unique C-pillar graphic, and a dynamically sculpted rear, achieve a balance between sportiness and practicality.

The ‘GT-Line’ variant of the K4 Sportswagon elevates its dynamic character with an exclusive high-gloss black beltline, complemented by matching high-gloss black wheel arch claddings for a sleek, premium finish.

Distinctive ‘GT-Line’ front and rear bumpers deliver a sportier, more expressive stance.
