KL, Selangor and Putrajaya to move to Phase 2 of NRP on Friday

PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya will transition to Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan on Sept 10, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail Sabri also said that cross-district travel between Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya will be allowed and added that all roadblocks will be lifted.

He said that the Special Committee on Pandemic Management decided on the matter during a meeting today.

“Among the relaxations will be the same as the states that have entered Phase 2 earlier, as stipulated by the National Security Council,” he said.

Ismail Sabri also said in a statement today the committee has decided to combine Selangor with the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya so that the entity can be treated as one common infection area.

“Therefore, movement between them is allowed, and there will be no more roadblocks,” he said.

Among the activities allowed under Phase 2 were inter-district travelling for fully vaccinated individuals; interstate travel for long-distance married couples who are fully vaccinated; interstate travel for fully vaccinated parents to see their children under 18; dining-in at eateries for fully vaccinated customers, and intra-state tourism activities involving accommodation in hotels and homestays for fully vaccinated individuals.

Ismail Sabri noted that the committee also agreed to relax the SOP for sports, leisure and recreational activities for the states under Phase 1.

Among them are indoor sports activities (except gyms) for fully vaccinated individuals; the opening of indoor commercial sports and recreation facilities under close supervision and only for customers who are fully vaccinated.

“An appointment to use the facility is required in addition to compliance with SOPs.

The decision was made based on the current risk assessment by the Health Ministry and the NSC, and will take effect on Friday (Sept 10),” he said.

For the trade and distribution sector, Ismail Sabri noted that flower shops, nurseries, outdoor equipment shops, and housing galleries are allowed to operate from Friday onwards in states under Phase 1.

Meanwhile, for states under Phase 2 and Phase 3, additional flexibility to operate is allowed for barbers, hairdressers, and beauty salons.

“The latest SOP will be updated by NSC and the relevant ministries,” he added.
