Klang Valley traffic jams: Local authorities get deadline to draw up mitigation plans
By THE STAR | 02 May 2023
PUTRAJAYA: Traffic congestion in the Klang Valley due to road closures will be a thing of the past by the end of this month, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said roads which have been closed due to roadworks and construction will be reopened shortly.
He said all seven local authorities in the Klang Valley will have to submit their plans to the Cabinet's technical committee on traffic congestion on how the affected roads will be reopened.
Ahmad Zahid said the local authorities will have two weeks to submit their plans, after which the roads will be opened again.
He added that the local authorities will have to come up with a mitigation plan to ensure that traffic will flow smoothly in the affected areas.
He said these were among immediate steps to be taken to address traffic congestion affecting city dwellers and those living in the surrounding Klang Valley area.
Ahmad Zahid chaired the Cabinet Committee on Traffic Congestion here today.
