SHAH ALAM: Konsortium e-Mutiara Bhd, one of the largest express bus operators in Malaysia, has taken delivery of its latest batch of premium MAN double-deck coaches.
The express bus operator says it continues to renew its fleet with technologically advanced coaches that offer superior safety, passenger comfort and sustainability.
The eight units of 12.9-metre, 38-seater coaches featuring the signature Alpha DD12 body by Truckquip Sdn Bhd and built on MAN’s next-generation RR5 ELSA chassis with the latest advanced electronics and driver assistance systems, will be deployed in the fast-growing Kuala Lumpur – Singapore route.
The new MAN coaches were officially handed over to e-Mutiara by Truckquip and MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN Malaysia) at a ceremony witnessed by Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) deputy director (operations) Masita Mat Isa.

Masita commended e-Mutiara for its willingness to invest in a fleet that not only offers world-class passenger safety and comfort but also meets sustainability standards with its low-emission Euro V-specification diesel engines.
Konsortium e-Mutiara managing director Naemah Ya’acob said that the company was delighted with its expanding partnership with MAN that has enabled the company to equip its fleet with coaches featuring the most advanced technology and innovations from Germany.
“At e-Mutiara, our focus has always been on the safety of our passengers, drivers and other road users. What we like most about MAN is that their chassis are not just well-engineered but come equipped with the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as standard."
"Most importantly, their aftersales service support has also exceeded our expectations. All our MAN coaches are under covered by a hassle-free Repair and Maintenance Contract, which ensures that they are always in tip-top condition and under the care of MAN’s expert technicians,” she said.

Konsortium e-Mutiara’s new MAN coaches are equipped with Telematics, Fleet Management System and tamper-proof, factory-set speed that is limited to 90kph on highways and 70kph on downhill stretches.
Some of the crucial ADAS features include Electronic Braking Assistance (EBA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Cruise Control.
MAN Malaysia head of bus Kasimov said that this was the company’s third bus handover event in the span of 16 months.
“MAN bus chassis is designed to meet diverse requirements and deployment needs and offer the ultimate flexibility and reliability, allowing visionary companies like e-Mutiara to lead the market with innovative ideas,” he said.
In the next few months, Konsortium e-Mutiara plans to take delivery of more ground-breaking new MAN coaches.
These include the first locally-assembled 14.7-metre long single-deck coach for new routes and a fleet of new-generation, even more luxurious MAN coaches for its premium Mutiara LUXE service.
