Lamborghini Urus SE plug-in hybrid launched in Thailand
By CARSIFU | 23 May 2024BANGKOK: Lamborghini Bangkok launched on Wednesday the Urus SE in Thailand.
The first hybrid plug-in version of the Lamborghini Super SUV is priced at 24.9 million baht (RM3.2mil).
Its Thai debut followed its launch in Germany on Monday. It will be introduced in Malaysia next month.
The Urus SE features a new design, optimised aerodynamics, advanced technology, and an 789hp hybrid powertrain.
This PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) model offers improved comfort, performance, efficiency, and reduced emissions, boasting an 80% reduction in emissions.
Lamborghini's Asia Pacific director Francesco Scardaoni said Thailand was a key market and emphasised that the Urus SE was a significant milestone in Lamborghini's evolution towards electrification.
The Urus SE uses a hybrid system, which is said to enhance performance on any surface. It features an electric torque vectoring system and an electronic rear differential, delivering more torque and power at any rpm.
Chief technical officer Rouven Mohr said the vehicle combines comfort and dynamic performance.

The twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine has been redesigned to work seamlessly with the electric powertrain, developing 611hp and 800Nm of torque. Combined with the electric powertrain's 189hp and 483Nm of torque, the system achieves a total output of 789hp. A 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery supports over 60km of EV mode travel.
The Urus SE introduces a centrally-located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system and a new electronic limited-slip differential, enhancing driving dynamics and traction on various surfaces.
It offers greater torque and power at any rpm, with a weight-to-power ratio of 3.13 kg/hp. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 312kph, making it the fastest production car in its segment.
The Urus SE's design optimises aerodynamic efficiency and highlights its sportiness. New elements include a floating design hood, matrix LED headlight clusters, and a redesigned bumper and front grill. The rear features a redesigned cargo compartment hatch, new spoiler, and diffuser, enhancing downforce and stability.
The interior follows Lamborghini's "feel like a pilot" design philosophy, with updated dashboard elements, a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, and advanced Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphics.
Customisation options include over 100 bodywork colours and 47 interior combinations, along with various wheel and tyre choices.
The Urus SE offers four new Electric Performance Strategies (EPS) alongside its six driving modes, providing 11 options tailored to different driving conditions.
These modes adjust air suspension, steering, drivability, and engine sound to suit the selected mode. Special attention was given to calibrating the air suspension for each mode, enhancing comfort, driving fun, and track performance.
