PETALING JAYA: A recent media event at M World Hotel, Petaling Jaya showcased three Leapmotor range extender electric vehicles (REEVs) namely the C10, the sleek C11 and six-seater C16.
The three REEVs were on an Asean Expedition Drive, which took them a 6,000km journey from Hangzhou, China to Johor.
The REEVs were also on a 10-day tour across Peninsula Malaysia from April 14 - 23, and visited Leapmotor authorised showrooms nationwide.
A key highlight of this expedition is the C10 REEV which has a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that recharges a 28.4kWh battery pack.
Combined with a 158kW electric motor, the C10 REEV sport utility vehicle (SUV) boasts a 1,150km (NEDC) driving range.
The media event was held to announce the local assembly of Leapmotor vehicles in Malaysia which will start with an investment of five million euros (RM25mil), and will be based at Stellantis’ existing plant in Gurun, Kedah.
“This milestone marks more than the start of local assembly — it marks the next chapter in Stellantis’ electrification journey across Asean," said Stellantis India and Asia Pacific chief operating officer Ashwani Muppasani.
