Malaysian auto parts supplier says it's going into EV battery production
By CARSIFU | 29 June 2021KUALA LUMPUR: Local auto parts supplier Go Charge Go Asia (GCG Asia) Malaysia announced recently that it is expanding into EV battery production to provide automakers and assemblers in South-East Asia a sustainable supply.
The 15-year-old company said it would start making EV batteries in the second half of 2021 following an investment in the venture. It did not reveal financial details nor the location of its battery production sites.
"By investing in EV battery manufacturing, the company aims to ensure an adequate supply of EV batteries for years to come," said GCG Asia Malaysia founder/CEO Alice Tan in a statement.
Moving forward, GCG Asia Malaysia said it plans to launch a social media campaign to raise awareness on the importance of environment conservation and the need for sustainable mobility.
