PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Cub Prix fraternity will work within the government’s conditional movement control order (MCO) regulations to get the sports back on track.

Safe Aim Mutual Sdn Bhd, the promoter of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, is confident that it can comply with the government’s standard operating procedures to get the season started.

Safe Aim Mutual managing director Ron Hogg said the motorsports industry in the country is relieved over the government’s latest decision.

“Motorsport is an expensive industry and a (continuous) shutdown will have disastrous impact but now we have a sense of direction on the season and it will bring back confidence to the sponsors, ” said Hogg.

“Safety and well-being will still be of utmost importance. We might limit the number of people at the paddock. We will adhere to social distancing and other practices like wearing masks.”

The Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, which runs from March to November, consisting of 10 races, was supposed to start on March 14 and 15.

“We will have to look at the schedule for the season and they may be some adjustment with the interstate travel ban. We also may race only on closed tracks, where we have control on the number of people compared to open tracks, ” said Hogg.
