HANOVER: At the IAA Transportation 2026, MAN Truck & Bus presented an new all-electric eTGX for heavy-duty long-haul transport.
Its innovative design features a vehicle front that is pulled forward by 120mm, with which MAN makes efficient use of the EU length specifications for zero-emission vehicles to optimise aerodynamics and safety.
Combined with a new generation of batteries with 10 per cent more usable energy than the previous generation, as well as up to 20 per cent more powerful recuperation, the new MAN eTGX is up to three per cent more efficient than the previous model.
For a typical 4x2 semitrailer tractor with six batteries and a total capacity of 552kWh, this increases the range to up to 660km.
The 6x2 semitrailer tractor, which will also be available in the future, can reach up to 720km with seven batteries and a total capacity of 644kWh without intermediate charging.

There is an increase in drive power, which will reach up to 598hp in the future.
Charging stops are particularly time-saving with the optional MCS charging port, which has been in series production by MAN since July.
With the maximum charging power of 750kW, the batteries can be refilled in 30 minutes.
The optimised front end of the new MAN eTGX also ensures greater safety: in conjunction with a lowered windscreen frame and a new low-visibility window in the passenger door, the driver has a better direct view of other road users in front of and next to the vehicle.
"With the new MAN eTGX, we are taking the next big step on the road to the decarbonisation of long-distance transport," says MAN Truck & Bus chairman Alexander Vlaskamp.
"The combination of a new generation of batteries, an even longer range, megawatt charging and a vehicle design that is consistently designed for efficiency creates tangible economic added value for our customers in daily use. At the same time, we are improving direct visibility and thus safety for all road users," he added.

The new MAN eTGX's flow-optimised front end, which has been extended by 120mm and features a single-frame grille, continuous fog light strip and optimised wind deflectors, reduces air resistance and thus contributes to the longer range.
Additional safety is provided by the new low-visibility window in the passenger door, which provides a better view of the immediate field to the right of the vehicle when turning.
In the cab, numerous new comfort functions make everyday work easier, including wireless charging for smartphones, EasyControl buttons also on the passenger door, a more powerful 230-volt socket with up to 1.2 kW of power, a heated front mirror for better visibility in adverse weather conditions and a mechanical night lock for additional protection during rest periods.
The new battery technology is accompanied by a new top-of-the-range engine of 440kW and 598hp for the electric drive, which now offers significantly higher recuperation power in all power levels.
In addition to the new 598 hp (440 kW) engine with 480 kW maximum recuperation power, a new 490hp (360kW) and 349hp (290kW) power levels with up to 420 and 320kW recuperation power respectively complete the range.
Meanwhile, the use of a three-axle semitrailer tractor instead of a two-axle semitrailer tractor allows the fifth wheel to be moved further back, creating space for the seventh battery, which is arranged transversely behind the cab.
Despite its flat and elongated design, this also offers 92kWh gross capacity with the same robustness and durability as the cube-shaped standard variant.
With the seventh battery, the total battery capacity increases to 644kWh.
This means that a maximum range of up to 720km is possible, and the typical range of over 600km can realistically be achieved under everyday long-haul transport conditions.
The electric commercial vehicle portfolio already includes the eTGL, eTGM, eTGS and eTGX series and thus covers applications with a gross vehicle weight of 12 to 50 tonnes.
