MARii in MoU to make Malaysia as Asean's next auto hub
By BERNAMA | 21 October 2024KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), Dassault Systèmes, and Feiran Technology have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at driving growth and innovation in Malaysia’s automotive sector.
According to a joint statement from MARii and Dassault Systèmes, the MoU integrates technology, industry expertise, and education to enhance sustainable competitiveness in the global market, positioning Malaysia as a potential automotive hub within Asean.
"The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework to support the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (COE) dedicated to digital innovation and professional skill development.
"Leveraging Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the COE will focus on developing the workforce of the future through targeted training and certification programmes," it said.
Key initiatives within the COE include an automotive styling studio, a big data analytics centre, and a robotics centre, designed to address real-world industry challenges while positioning Malaysia as a leader in automotive innovation.
A major milestone of the MoU is the creation of Malaysia’s first Dassault Systèmes Training and Certification Centre within the COE.
"Equipped with advanced capabilities, the centre will offer comprehensive certification across product design, manufacturing, simulation, and collaborative operations.
"These programmes aim to upskill the local automotive workforce, enabling them to adopt the latest digital tools and methodologies," the statement added.
Additionally, Dassault Systèmes will serve as an advisor for MARii’s initiatives, providing insights into emerging technologies such as electric vehicles and sustainability.
By facilitating knowledge transfer and access to cutting-edge developments, this partnership aims to empower local stakeholders to embrace innovation, strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in automotive innovation.
MARii chief executive officer Azrul Reza Aziz said the MARii - Dassault Systèmes Training and Certification Centre marks a significant milestone in Malaysia's journey towards building a globally competitive automotive ecosystem.
"Aligned with the National automotive Policy 2020 and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the centre will act as a catalyst for nurturing a future-ready workforce equipped to seize emerging opportunities in the dynamic automotive market,” he said.
