By BERNAMA | 13 May 2025
SERDANG: Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) has introduced the Voluntary Next Generation Vehicle (NxGV) Labelling Scheme, aimed to provide a clear and transparent framework to assess vehicles based on energy efficiency, emissions, safety, connectivity and intelligent features.
Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry deputy secretary-general Datuk Hanafi Sakri said the scheme reflects the ministry's commitment to position Malaysia and Asean at the centre of the global shift towards sustainable and high-technology mobility.
He said the introduction of the scheme is a significant milestone in advancing the objectives of the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP 2020).
"It provides a clear and transparent framework to assess vehicles based on energy efficiency, emissions, safety, connectivity and intelligent features.
"This empowers consumers to make informed choices and drives local manufacturers to innovate, meet global standards, and remain competitive internationally," he said at the launch of the scheme here yesterday.
MARii CEO Azrul Reza Aziz said the scheme is Malaysia's first voluntary framework designed to evaluate and communicate the capabilities of next-generation vehicles, spanning energy efficiency, emissions, safety, autonomous features and connectivity.
