PETALING JAYA: Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia, has unveiled the CX-80 2.5 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle).
It is priced at RM331,610 (RM333,998 for East Malaysia).
While it is offered with the same engine, colour options and warranty as the Mazda CX-60, it adds on an eight-year or 160,000km warranty for the high-voltage battery.
Although the CX-80 shares much of its kit and underpinnings, including ground clearance, with the CX-60, it is mainly bigger and heavier at 2,342kg (kerb), while having a 3,120mm wheelbase and measuring 4,995mm in length, 1,890mm in width and 1,705mm in height.
The main difference is its powertrain which comes supplements the 2.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor, providing 172hp and 200Nm - bringing its system output to a potent 323hp and 500Nm for its all-wheel-drive system.
A 17.8kW lithium-ion battery powers the electric motor and can accept up to 7.2kW of AC charging only - taking the battery's state-of-charge from 0% to 100% in two hours and 30 minutes.
Inside, the cabin features a 2+2+2 seating arrangement with the second row equipped with powered-recline captain seats, and the front passenger mirroring the driver's 10-way power-adjustable seat.
The CX80 comes with additional driving modes including Off Road (with Off Road Traction Assist) and EV mode, which allows for up to 65km (NEDC) of emission-free driving.
