Mazda CX-90 to make world premiere in January 2023

LOS ANGELES: The Mazda CX-90 will make its world debut in January 2023 and replaces the CX-9 as the company's flagship SUV.

Mazda North American Operations has just released a teaser image showing the front fender of the three-row vehicle, and a new shade of red.

The three-row CX-90 is built on Mazda's all-new large platform and represents the company's newest flagship vehicle with wider, longer, and more aggressive proportions than any current Mazda vehicle.

The fender gets a vent with an "Inline6" badge, which suggests the CX-90 will come packing a naturally aspirated 3.0-litre inline-six or a turbodiesel 3.3-litre inline-six. A plug-in hybrid is also plausible.

The new colour called Artisan Red is an all-new premium paint colour option reserved for Mazda's large platform vehicles.

Mazda said the deeply saturated colour has been specifically developed to suit such vehicles to accentuate their blend of high-performance appearance and world-class refinement.

It looks like the CX-90 is Mazda's attempt to uplift its brand and take it to the luxury segment occupied by the Infiniti QX60 and Acura MDX.

Mazda's new SUV range will also spin a two-row CX-70 based on the same platform.
