PUTRAJAYA: Those going out to buy food, daily essentials and seeking medical attention can now travel beyond the 10km radius limit throughout Phase Four of the movement control order, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He however said that the public should not go to places that are too far away from their residential area and find the nearest shop that is located within a 10km radius of their home.

"For instance, if a person needs to go to the clinic and it is 15km away from his house, that will be allowed now.

"But he should not go to seek medical attention that is located 20km away just because we have now allowed people to venture slightly further from the initial permissible area," he said today.

The government has eased up on the MCO under Phase Four, which include allowing two people from a family to go out and run errands for food, medicine and other daily needs.

Ismail Sabri said the two items have been gazetted.

The updated Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Declaration of Infected Local Areas) Order 2020 which was signed by the Health Minister stated that the MCO is further extended from April 29 until May 12.

On this matter, Ismail Sabri said all the MCOs, from the first which started on March 18 and to the current Phase Four were gazetted.

"We gazetted all the Orders because if we did not do so, then enforcement cannot be done," he said.

The minister clarified this as there were parties which claimed that the government did not gazette the MCOs.
