Melaka launches 'Jammed Squad' to ease traffic jams
By BERNAMA | 14 October 2024MELAKA: The Melaka Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) has launched the "Jammed Squad", a team that aims to disperse traffic more smoothly and reduce congestion on the state's main roads, especially during peak hours.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Supt Roslan Mohamed @ Ab Aziz said the special squad, launched last Friday, also aims to reduce accident rates at specific road locations.
"The 'Jammed Squad' will monitor the specified location routes where vehicles converge, and members involved will help control and disperse the traffic flow.
"Traffic congestion monitoring on the main roads will be carried out in two sessions, which are Monday to Friday from 7am to 8am and 4.45pm to 6.45pm," he said in a statement here today.
Roslan said that on weekends and public holidays, monitoring will start at 10am and continue until the traffic flow returns to normal.
He said motorists can send information related to traffic jams or road accidents on the department's social media accounts, including Facebook (JSPT Melaka) and TikTok (Jsptipk_melaka).
