KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially launched the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Coupe while offering an exclusive preview of the all-new, fully electric Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe at KLCC Plaza.
The arrival of both high-performance flagship models coincides with the return of Formula 1 to Malaysia.
The two-door GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Coupe carries an estimated retail price starting from RM2,088,888 on-the-road without insurance for Malaysia.
For high-end collectors, an exclusive Motorsport Collectors Edition (limited to just 200 units worldwide) is priced at RM2,588,888.
Meanwhile, the GT 63 4-door Coupe is estimated at RM1,290,000.
At the heart of the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Coupe is the Affalterbach-built 4.0-litre (3,982cc) V8 twin-turbo engine.
By adapting the engine control unit, performance are raised to 612hp and 850Nm of torque, representing a gain of 27hp and 50Nm over the standard AMG GT 63.
Power flows through the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission to all four wheels via the fully variable AMG Performance 4Matic+ system, sending the 1,950kg coupe from zero to 100kph in 3.2 seconds and zero to 200kph in 10.9 seconds – all before reaching a top speed of 317kph.
To ensure track durability, two auxiliary radiators are mounted in the front wheel arches, while the differential top-mounted radiators on both axles and the transfer case feature active cooling using electric water pumps.
Underbody air guide vanes and revised brake cover plates further channel cooling air to the brakes.
Aerodynamic tweaks include a redesigned front apron with carbon-fibre air deflectors around enlarged side intakes, active underbody air profiles, an Airpanel active air control system, and a fixed rear wing.
Front-axle aerodynamic lift is reduced by over 30kg, while underbody fins inspired by the Mercedes-AMG ONE accelerate airflow to add 15kg of downforce at the rear.
Stopping power comes from an AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system featuring 420mm front discs with six-piston callipers and rear single-piston floating callipers.
Dynamic hardware includes AMG Active Ride Control suspension with active roll stabilisation and up to 2.5-degree active rear-axle steering.
The exterior is fitted with 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels wrapped in front 295/30 and rear 305/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 5S performance tyres.
Also included are the AMG Night Package II, and the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package.
Inside, the cabin features AMG Performance seats wrapped in Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre, yellow seatbelts, carbon-fibre trim, an AMG Performance steering wheel, a 12.3-inch driver display, and an 11.9-inch central MBUX touchscreen.
Track drivers benefit from AMG Track Pace, a head-up display with Augmented Reality Navigation, and an 11-speaker Burmester surround sound system.
The limited Motorsport Collectors Edition is finished in obsidian black with an exclusive Mercedes-Benz Star Pattern and Petronas green accents across the aero components, wheel rims, and brake callipers.
Inside, it gains Petronas contrast stitching, an edition-specific centre console badge, the Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System, and the Energizing Plus package.
Alongside the V8 launch, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia provided a preview of the upcoming electric GT 63 4-Door Coupe, built on the dedicated high-performance AMG.EA electric architecture.
The electric fastback utilises three axial-flux motors paired with an 800-volt AMG High Performance Electric Battery (AMG HP.EB) featuring Formula 1-derived direct liquid cell cooling to push output up to 860kW (1,169hp).
The 800V architecture supports ultra-fast DC charging of up to 350kW via the AMG Performance Charging system.
With 2,000Nm of torque, a 0-100kph sprint is done in 2.4 seconds and a top speed of 260kph.
The high voltage provide an useable energy content of 106kWh that is good for a (WLTP) driving range of 679km.
Chassis dynamics are managed by an AMG Race Engineer central processing unit featuring three centre-console rotary dials for Response Control to tune electric motor accelerator response across drive modes, Agility Control to manage vertical-axis yaw and torque vectoring, and Traction Control offering nine-stage slip adjustment in Race, S+, and S modes with ESP off.
Hardware includes AMG Active Ride Control air suspension with semi-active hydraulic roll stabilisation, active rear-axle steering offering up to six degrees of rear steering angle, and a hydraulic composite braking system combining front carbon-ceramic discs with rear steel rotors.
Aesthetically, the four-door coupe sits 40mm lower than its predecessor and debuts an illuminated concave AMG grille, six circular turbine-design taillights, flush door handles, 21-inch forged wheels, and a Sky Control panoramic roof with illuminated graphics.
Active aero includes Aerokinetics Venturi Flow underbody elements, a multi-stage extendable rear spoiler, and a nine-stage active Airpanel louvre system.
For V8 purists, the electric model includes the AMGFORCE S+ drive programme, utilising a real-time sound generator with over 1,600 audio samples derived from the GT R to recreate tactile V8 shifting characteristics, engine acoustic notes, and heartbeat-like entry cues.
Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia chief executive officer and president Martin Schulz said the new GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Coupe brings the thrill of motorsport to the road with the unmistakable character of a high-performance AMG, while the all-new GT 63 4-Door Coupe shows how that same spirit can be reimagined for the electric era.
