Mercedes-AMG GT R to be axed after 2021, says report
By CARSIFU | 22 December 2020
STUTTGART: The days of the Mercedes-AMG GT R are numbered, according to Allcarnews on YouTube.
It reported that the GT R would be phased out after the 2021 model year.
It cited an alleged email sent to Mercedes-Benz dealerships stating the matter to that effect.
The email also claimed that order books for 2021 model-year GT Rs would ceased on Dec 29.
At one time, the GT R ruled the roost as the hottest AMG GT available. Then came the GT Black Series that left the GT R in the shade.
As the new top dog, the GT Black Series set a new record as the fastest overall production car at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, lapping the nearly 21km track in 6:48.047 minutes.
