KUALA LUMPUR: Following Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's launch of its flagship S 560 e and the subsequent showing of the EQC all-electric SUV, the company also showcased the C 300 e plugin hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) as well.

Unfortunately, this particular W205 PHEV model has not been confirmed to be able to touch Malaysian shores but if it did, however, it would arrive with a 2.0-litre (1,911cc) turbocharged engine producing 208hp at 5,500rpm and 350Nm of torque from 1,200 to 1,400rpm.

While working in conjunction with a 121hp electric motor, its total system output has been rated at 315hp and 700Nm while a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox manages power delivery to the rear wheels.

This allows the C 300 e to sprint from 0-100kph in 6.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250kph, and just like the S 560 e, it also has a 13.5kWh lithium-ion battery as well as an all-electric range of up to 50km.

Also, it takes about six hours to fully recharged the battery via a conventional domestic power socket and almost an hour and 50 minutes with a dedicated wallbox.

With the car starting in Hybrid mode as standard, owners can also opt to further configure the vehicle in three other modes that include E-mode (full-electric drive), E-Save (reserves the battery for later) and Charge (recharges the battery while driving about).

With 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels fitted with 225/40 series tyres, this German PHEV from Stuttgart also possesses a pair of front Multibeam LED headlamps - each using 84 LEDs, an Airmatic suspension system and a panoramic sunroof.

The cabin gets graced by the AMG Line interior that includes black leather upholstery as well as open-pore black ash wood accents and black roof-liner.

The infotainment unit uses an Audio 20 radio navigation unit paired to the Burmester sound system that comes integrated with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging among others.

Also, the C 300 e also comes with a 12.3-inch instrument display for the driver, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen display, keyless-entry with push-start button.

It is also accompanied by Dynamic Body Control (continuously adjustable front and rear axle damping) as well as Active Brake Assist and Pre-Safe Plus which initiates preventive occupant protection measures if a rear-end collision is detected.
