KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has named Amanda Zhang as the CEO and president of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia, effective Aug 1. She will also assume the role of regional head of Mercedes-Benz Cars SEA II from the same date.
Zhang replaces Sagree Sardien, who has been promoted to head the overseas region for Mercedes-Benz Cars. Sardien will be based in Stuttgart.
Zhang was previously the CEO at Mercedes-Benz Romania overseeing four business divisions. She joined Daimler 20 years ago and has served the company in various capacities during that time. Daimler was renamed Mercedes-Benz Group in February 2022.
Sardien leaves behind a legacy of leading the electric mobility agenda in Malaysia, having introduced a fleet of luxury EVs from Mercedes-Benz, including the locally assembled EQS 500 4MATIC.
Under Sardien’s leadership, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia had also introduced the agency model to selling cars. She joined Mercedes-Benz Malaysia in June 2021.
