KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced the price of its S 580 e flagship luxury sedan at RM698,744.
The on-the-road price is includes sales tax exemption but without insurance.
The locally-assembled plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) was launched on Dec 15 last year with its price then still pending government approval.
The S 580 e is bigger, has a longer wheelbase and gets more innovations compared with the previous S 560 e.
Its hybrid powertrain is a combination of a 9G-Tronic transmission coupled to a 3.0-litre inline-6 turbocharged engine delivering 367hp and 500Nm of torque and an electric motor producing 110kW and 440Nm of torque.
A 0-100kph sprint can be achieved in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 250kph, while having an all-electric driving range of 100km.
In addition to air suspension, the S 580 e also comes with the second generation of the MBUX NTG 7 system and up to five large screens.
Among them are a 12.8-inch OLED centre display and a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument panel.
