BARCELONA: MG has announced that European manufacturing will restart at a new facility in Galicia, Spain.
MG says this investment of 200 million euros (RM927.7mil) is a major milestone in the acceleration of its ‘In Europe, For Europe’ strategy.
The facility will create more than 2,000 jobs across Europe.
Production is scheduled to begin in 2028, with an annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles.
“From technological innovation to the localisation of manufacturing and R&D (research and development) across Europe, supported by a truly global product line-up, MG continues to push the boundaries of what is possible—making advanced technology and sustainable mobility accessible to more people than ever before,” said MG UK and Europe managing director William Wang.

“Through our ‘In Europe, For Europe’ strategy, we are not simply responding to the future of mobility—we are helping define it. By investing in local capabilities, strengthening our European footprint and fostering a more competitive automotive ecosystem, we are accelerating Europe’s journey towards a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility future.”
The site will integrate vehicle research and development, advanced manufacturing, core component supply, and intelligent logistics operations, forming a fully connected, end-to-end industrial ecosystem.
This platform will significantly expand localised production and sourcing, strengthening the resilience, responsiveness, and agility of MG’s European supply chain.

In parallel, MG will deepen collaboration with leading European technology partners, research institutions, and local suppliers to accelerate innovation across key future-facing domains, including next-generation battery technology, intelligent mobility systems, and clean energy solutions.
This announcement comes at a pivotal moment for the European automotive industry, as the EU’s 2035 zero-emission targets continue to accelerate the shift toward electrified mobility.
At the same time, MG continues to bring world-class technologies to market, including its newly launched, the first mass-produced SolidCore, semi-solid-state battery and its class-leading Hybrid+ and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology portfolio.
Earlier this year, the brand celebrated the delivery of its one-millionth vehicle in the European market.
Since re-entering the UK in 2011, MG has become one of Europe’s fastest-growing automotive brands, supported by a network of more than 1,300 dealer partners across 34 markets.
More recently, MG’s parent group marked the delivery of its 100-millionth global customer vehicle, underscoring its scale and global reach.
