PETALING JAYA: The all-electric MG S5 B-segment SUV (sport utility vehicle) will arrive in Malaysia in two variants, with estimated prices from RM115,000.
The S5 will come with two battery options — a 49kWh unit paired with a 125kW motor delivering 170PS and 250Nm, and up to 340km (WLTP) range, or a 62.2kWh pack offering up to 430km range and 150kW DC fast charging.
Both variants offer rear-wheel drive (RWD).
In a statement, MG Malaysia said the S5 EV is engineered to deliver the best handling in its segment, offering a dynamic and engaging driving experience.
Also, both variants are equipped with 6.6kW AC charging, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch touchscreen with voice control, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and a safety suite including seven airbags and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Extra comfort and convenience features on the S5 EV with the 62kWh battery include 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, leather and fabric combination seats with MG perforated pattern, a heated leather steering wheel, power-adjustable driver’s seat, six audio speakers, rear reading lamps, rain-sensing wipers and a 360-degree surround view camera.
There are five colour options Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte1 with a dark interior leather and fabric combination seat.
"The S5 EV (electric vehicle) is the very first model we are introducing as part of a fresh new chapter for MG in Malaysia," said SAIC Motor Malaysia managing director Emory Qifeng at the preview event held at Terra Restaurant, Petaling Jaya.
"It sets the standard for what drivers can expect from our brand, with best-in-class driving dynamics for this segment," he added.
