SYDNEY: The MGU9 EV (electric vehicle) brings full-electric ute capability to Australia, with 430km of driving range and 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity.
Due to arrive from the fourth quarter of 2026 onwards, the MGU9 EV offers features including a 236-litre frunk, 685kg payload and 6.6kW V2L (vehicle-to-load) capability to power equipment away from mains electricity.

Australia is the first market globally to launch the MG Motor's all-electric lifestyle ute.

MG Motor Australia marketing director Dimitri Andreatidis said, "The MGU9 EV brings the things people love about a ute, the space, flexibility and ability to get away for the weekend, and the comfort and refinement typically associated with a modern SUV, together with the benefits of a fully electric powertrain."
Powered by a 102.2kWh LFP battery and dual electric motors, the U9 EV features all-wheel drive and full-function four-wheel Electronic Air Suspension.
It also supports 11kW AC charging, with DC charging from 20–80 per cent taking 42 minutes at up to 115kW.
Inside, the U9 EV combines ute practicality with passenger-car comfort, featuring leather front seats, dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 15W wireless charging and an eight-speaker JBL sound system.
The driver's seat also features heating, ventilation and massage functionality.
