MINI Paceman may come back as all-electric model with four doors
By CARSIFU | 16 March 2022
PETALING JAYA: Still remember the three-door MINI Paceman?
It was in production from 2012 to 2016, and fell victim to the axe as MINI went on a crash diet to slim down its bloated line-up to focus on the few good models that were actually selling. Like the hatch and the Countryman.
With electrification being the buzz word now, MINI apparently had a change of heart and decided to resurrect the Paceman nameplate.
Car publication recently quoted sources as saying that the Paceman would return in 2023 as a fully electric crossover with four doors because - fact - that's what sells better.
The sources also told Car that the new Paceman would have a less rakish roofline, could be all-wheel drive and might possibly feature a 60kWh battery.
On top of that, the Paceman is expected to pick up styling cues from the next-generation MINI Cooper, both in the exterior and the cabin, they say.
MINI is hedging its bets as it will be selling both combustion cars and EVs until 2030.
